Recognition highlights the Society’s commitment to building a welcoming, inclusive and thriving workplace
Darlington Building Society has been awarded Investors in People Gold accreditation, recognising its commitment to creating a workplace where colleagues feel welcomed, aligned, included and able to thrive.
Investors in People is a globally recognised benchmark for people management, assessing how organisations lead, support and develop their people. Darlington’s Gold accreditation follows colleague survey feedback and assessment, with the Society scoring above the sector average.
Gold accreditation is achieved by a select proportion of organisations assessed by Investors in People and reflects strong performance across areas including workplace culture, leadership, wellbeing and employee engagement. Achieving a gold award at first accreditation, is a significant and rare accomplishment.
Darlington’s strongest scoring areas included leading and inspiring people, living the organisation’s values and behaviours, and empowering and involving colleagues. The assessment also highlighted positive relationships between managers and teams, clear pride in working at the Society, and strong understanding of the Society’s values.

We understood that going for gold in our very first year was ambitious, but we were confident that our standards as a business would stand out, and our colleagues confirmed this.
